The surface was wiped this morning. That is not the same as knowing it is clean now.
Tooling, fixtures, workbenches, transfer jigs and handling equipment accumulate particles between cleanings, between shifts, between maintenance events. A surface assumed clean because it was wiped at the start of the shift can carry a particle load high enough to transfer a critical particle onto your product at the moment of contact — bypassing the air entirely, and invisible to any airborne or deposition monitor.
SUMON measures what is on that surface, right now. Place the sensor, and within ten seconds you see the particle count, the full size distribution, and the percentage area coverage on that specific surface. Not assumed clean because a procedure was followed. Confirmed clean because you just measured it.
