Particle contamination leaves traces everywhere except in the instrument that is usually deployed to detect it. A particle counter positioned at the ISO 14644-1 sampling location measures concentration in the air at that point. It does not measure what settles on the product, what transfers from a fixture, or what happens during the six seconds a bond pad is exposed.
